Homegrown
A downloadable game
According to Korean folklore, each room of a residence can host a household god, or gashin, which looks after the affairs of its realm. Gashin are sometimes represented by earthenware vessels called onggi, which are filled with rice and kept in the home.
Dokkaebi are goblin-like creatures formed at night from discarded or neglected objects. They can be mischievous, and may not make the most ideal roommates—especially in large numbers.
HOMEGROWN is an active two-player game set where you live, using a standard deck of playing cards, two six-sided dice, and four vessels.
With the hope of bringing peace and prosperity into their new home, a human makes offerings at their DIY shrines in an effort to entice a gashin—any gashin—to manifest.
However, the dokkaebi who also dwells there has other plans: they sneak around the shrines at night to steal the offerings, weaken the potential gashin, and create fellow dokkaebi from the stolen objects.
